About our Founder
Hello! I’m Alexsandra Rockman. My students call me Miss Alex. I started dancing when I was 3 and have been dancing ever since. Ballet was the first class I tried, adding tap and jazz soon after and eventually I was taking all the classes I had the ability to take. I trained at Dance Studio 3-D in Deerfield WI through high school and enjoyed being a demonstrator for many years.
I then went on to receive my BFA in Dance Performance from Northern Illinois University. At NIU I participated in works by faculty, students and guest artists varying from classical ballet to jazz to contemporary. Some of my favorites were Respiro by Jessica Tomlinson, Etude in Jazz #4 by Joel Hall, and Excerpts from Don Quixote set by Judith Chitwood along with many student choreographed works.
I began my dance teaching career while still in high school, by leading a musical theatre class for ages 8-18. I explored choreography classes while in college and have been able to choreograph in many venues such as concert settings through NIU’s student showcases, dance recitals and Project AIR, a dance production with other dance artists in 2023. I have also enjoyed choreographing for musicals with Sun Prairie Civic Theatre and First Wing Family Theatre.
Since graduating from Northern Illinois University, I have been teaching at multiple studios and have the honor of being the Trainee Coordinator with Magnum Opus Ballet in Madison. I am overwhelmingly excited to be starting this new chapter as founder, director and instructor of Dancing with Heart Studios.
